As a young man, Don Mateo worked in one of the most important sugar mills in the country. When the sugar cane was ready to harvest, he would go to the country's southern coast and work as a sugar cane cutter. Eventually, he saved enough money to buy a small plot of land in his hometown of Chimacho, in Cubulco, which he christened Grano de Oro. Don Mateo has now owned his farm for 18 years and coffee is the primary source of income for him and his family. We named this microlot after Don Mateo's farm, which translates to golden bean, a perfect name for an amazing coffee!
