On October 14th, 2013 the local non-profit A Family Place launched in Yamhill county as an active Relief Nursery to aid families in the community. The role of a Relief Nursery is to serve high-risk families in order to prevent child abuse and ensure their safety. The ideation is that a good early childhood development should be available and a right to everyone. This in turn is an investment in the future of the community.
A Family Place is focused on looking for answers that last, not just a temporary solution. They offer a variety or services that have been derived from research-based principles proven to work in these situations and environments. These range from parent education, to specialized preschool classes, to respite care for those in more severe situations.
Through their work they have seen real results among the families they are interacting with. The overall quality of life for these families benefit from these services, with positive changes like increased parental employment and improved relations between parent and child.
Keep an eye out for ways to support A Family Place, either through our Benevolence Program or community events, such as their recent fundraiser Champions for Children. The event was a luncheon that brought together around 300 people (talk about what an awesome community we are a part of!) to show their support and witness the testimony of a family who has been benefited by this organization.
Ten-percent of the sales of each retail bag of our Benevolence blend goes toward A Family Place, find it online and on our shelves now!
